Fort Lauderdale
Children's Theatre offers ongoing classes in drama and music theatre at
two prime Broward County locations; The Rehearsal Hall in downtown
Fort Lauderdale and Young At Art Children's Museum in Davie.
Classes are creative dramatics based and their goal is to provide
students with the confidence, creativity, teamwork and poise to develop
into happy, healthy young adults. For all our students, FLCT
provides a nurturing community of fun and joy.

Improvisation:
Now in its fifth
year, our Improv Program is quite a major success. After performing in
Gainesville and Miami, FLCT Improv students were invited to Chicago to
showcase their work alongside members of Second City Improv and Saturday
Night Live among others. Join the Beginning Improv Class to learn what
it takes to think on your feet and work your way up to an invitation
into our premiere Improv Troupe.

Our youngest students explore the magic of their imagination through
theatre games, music and movement. This program is ideal to help
children develop confidence, focus and self-assurance as they enhance
their creativity, coordination and problem solving skills.

This class introduces students to
theatre concepts and skills that will support their work as actors and
as people. In order to play different characters, students must first
learn about who they are, and this class will focus on identifying ways
that the body, voice and imagination weave together as the tools of the
trade. Written text is introduced with the emphasis on poems, monologues
and scenes.

What does it take to be a good actor? Skills, techniques and an
understanding of the actor’s responsibilities are the highlight of this
quarter, with specific, usable activities designed to improve
performance quality, collaboration skills, audition comfort and a way to
work.

Activities are designed to increase the range of the young actor;
vocally, physically and emotionally. In this time of transition,
students receive encouragement and strategies for managing change and
conflict that are applicable to real-life situations and to improve
their work on stage.
They will develop
a clear understanding of where they are in their creative process
through theatre games, monologues and scenes.

Teens will explore the craft of acting more deeply and begin to develop
a way of working that balances talent and inspiration with technique and
method. This class works on expanding the range of the actor through a
variety of skill training sessions such as technique, scene study,
combat and specific performance projects.
