Acting Classes
Creative Drama (Pre‐K ‐ 1st grade, min. age 4)
Creative Drama (BC): Tuesdays 4:00-5:00pm

Utilizing creative play, our youngest students explore the range of their imaginations through theatre games, music, movement, and children’s literature, this program is ideal to help children develop self confidence, focus, and teamwork as they enhance creativity and problem‐solving skills.

Jazzy Jellybeans (Dance for Pre‐K ‐ 1st grade, min. age 4)
Saturdays 10:00-11:00am (BC)
$150/six week session
Utilizing movement and music, our youngest students explore their physical creativity to help develop self confidence, focus, and coordination. Join us for this fun and high energy beginning dance fundamentals class.

Acting 1 (Grades 1‐2)
Acting 1 (BC): Thursdays 4:00‐5:00pm
$150/six week session
Using simple scripts and poems as a springboard for dramatization, students will explore how to bring the written word to life on stage. The actor’s tools of voice, body, imagination, concentration and cooperation will begin to be developed through acting exercises and theatre games. A virtual showcase will be performed at the end of each session.

Acting 2 (Grades 3‐5 at BC, Grades 2-5 at Galleria Mall)

What does it take to be an actor? The focus of this class is formulating a clear understanding of the skills and techniques involved in the actor’s work. Each class begins with exercises and theatre games designed to expand the actor’s toolkit to improve performance quality. Students also work on text‐based lessons including monologues, commercials, and scenes ‐ learning to bring the written word to the stage through character development, analysis and interpretation. A virtual showcase will be performed at the end of each session.

Acting 3 (Grades 6-8)
Acting 3 (BC): Mondays 5:00-6:15pm
$225/six-week session
This acting class is for middle school performers and focuses on techniques and skills to help the actor understand character motivations and emotional life to successfully “live in the moment” and bring truth to their performances. Students challenge themselves with monologues, scenes, and exercises that require them to ground themselves in their character’s given circumstances. A virtual showcase will be performed at the end of each session.

Triple-Threat (Open for grades 6-8* and 9-12)

In partnership with RLS Studios and Ron Hutchins of Destined To Dance, this workshop will help teen performers put together the big three: Acting, Singing, and Dancing. Through a combination of in-person and virtual coaching, students will work on monologues, songs, scenes, and dance combos in order to become a true “Triple Threat.”
Meisner Technique Workshop (Grades 9-12)

Sanford Meisner was one of the great American acting teachers of the 20th century. His technique focuses the actor’s attention outside him or herself and onto the circumstances, the environment, and the actions of the other actors. The technique is based on a series of exercises that are progressive in nature so students must be committed to attending every class. Admission is by invitation and/or interview only and significant prior acting experience is required.

Performance Project (Grades 2‐9)

Winter/Spring 2021 Title: School House Rock, Live!
$425/session
Performance Project takes students on the complete journey of putting on a show. The process begins with mock auditions and culminates in the performance of a one‐act play or musical. Along the way, class activities focus on character development and script analysis through work on a specific piece of dramatic literature. Performance Project provides students with the opportunity to expand their performing talents and every student gets a part in the show. The final production for both locations will be filmed for streaming at the BC location. Students must be available for recording days and have limited conflicts during the term.

Destined To Dance With Ron Hutchins
Beginning Dance for Musical Theatre (Grades 3-5)
Thursdays 5:00-6:15pm (BC)
$250/six-week session
Intermediate Dance for Musical Theatre (Grades 6 and up)
Saturdays 11:00am-12:30pm (BC)
(This class is taught in conjunction with Triple-Threat. There is no need to register for Saturday Dance if you are signed up for Triple-Threat.
$375/nine-week session
FLCT resident choreographer Ron Hutchins teaches these dance classes which introduce and refine the skills needed to be a successful musical theatre dancer. Focusing on a variety of styles including jazz, tap, and modern, these classes will prove who really is Destined To Dance.

BFA or Bust (11th and 12th grade)
Private sessions and group zoom meetings will be scheduled case by case.

One-on-one counseling and audition prep is offered to help prepare those planning on auditioning for acting and musical theatre BFA programs. A range of topics are covered including: the application process, pre-screen videos, financial aid resources, song and monologue selection, audition technique, the selection of the final list of colleges to include on your audition journey, organization of a senior year timeline calendar and expectations, and the best way follow-up with schools.
Coaches and students will narrow down college searches, identify audition requirements, discuss the ins-and-outs of Financial Aid and funding college, while formatting resumes and other Audition needs, plus attacking the Pre-screen audition process. Under guidance, students will find and develop appropriate audition material.

Circus

An introductory class of basic age-appropriate circus skills for our younger students. Taught by FLCT Education Director Melissa Hahl.

Public performances at various venues will be included.

Ever dream of running away to join the circus? Now you can when you audition to be a part of FLCT’s Circus Troupe. This performance based troupe will work on strength, flexibility, spatial and aerial awareness, all while having fun learning new skills with your friends. Students will train in tumbling, acrobatics, and juggling. The show will be comprised of aerial acts (silks, hoop etc) as well as ground acts (Juggling, clowning, tumbling etc). At this time the show is planned to be recorded and streamed. Taught by FLCT Education Director Melissa Hahl.

$25/half hour (1/2 hour or 1 hour blocks)
$10 each additional student for duet or group work

Spring Break Theatre Camp

Join us for a week of theatre fun! Students will partake in theatre games, explore their imaginations and work on a short scripted piece that will be filmed in camp and shared virtually with families.
Spring Break Camp operates in person at Broward College Central Campus in Davie with a ten camper capacity. Mask requirements, temperature checks, and sanitation protocols are in place.

Summer Stage Show Camp

Campers rehearse and perform a full stage production of a popular musical as well as play theatre games, learn theatre skills, and partake in other fun summer camp activities.
Due to COVID-19 there will not be live audience performances. Shows will be filmed the final week of each session to be streamed later. UPDATE: We are considering an extremely limited capacity in-person performance for parents only. Details coming soon.
Camps will operate in person at Broward College Central Campus in Davie at 40% of regular capacity with mask requirements, temperature checks, and sanitation protocols in place. Testing may be required. COVID procedures are subject to change.

Each week has a unique theme that results is a showcase performance that will be filmed and streamed for campers’ families.
Due to COVID-19 there will not be live showcases. Showcases will be filmed the final two days of each session to be streamed later.

The final show will be performed outside at Broward College with a socially distanced audience Wednesday evening during the final week of camp. (Rain delay performance possible Thursday evening).
Camps will operate in-person at 40% of regular capacity with mask requirements, temperature checks, and sanitation protocols in place. Testing may be required. COVID procedures are subject to change. Due to the physical nature of this program masks cannot always be safely worn during all activities and social distancing is not always possible. Please keep this in mind when assessing whether this program is a good fit for your family.

Coronavirus Notes
1. All in-person summer camp programs are limited to 40% of usual capacity.
3. Health and safety protocols will be distributed to campers, based on recommended and required best practices. This will include sanitization procedures and currently include mandatory requirements such as masks, temperature screenings, etc. Testing may be required.
4. Showcases and performances will be recorded and streamed online without a live audience in lieu of end of session in-person showcases and performances.
